Early Career and Foundations
Nina’s communication journey began young. At 19 she became a speed reader, fascinated by the brain’s ability to process information rapidly with the right techniques.
Before stepping into corporate training, Nina practised her speaking craft by delivering not-for-profit presentations on “The Remarkable Minds of Dolphins and Whales.” This cause took her to Japan to research dolphin inter-species communication and welfare at leading marine-mammal research facilities, and to Florida and Hawaii to observe in-water dolphin and whale programs, as well as to author an essay on dolphin intelligence and free will.
These presentations sharpened her stage presence, storytelling ability, and confidence as a communicator. Her academic background in English, Psychology, and Education established a deep understanding of how people read, write, think, and learn, forming the foundation of her lifelong work.
Nina’s first major professional specialisation was Speed Reading.
For more than a decade, she taught professionals how to read faster, remember more, and overcome information overload.
Her practical, engaging approach opened doors to some of Australia’s most respected organisations, including PwC, EY, IBM, ANSTO, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and government agencies at every level.
After ten successful years specialising in Speed Reading, Nina received a government grant to develop a Marketing Plan for her business; a strategic moment shifting her professional direction.
During the consultation, the marketing expert made an observation that changed everything: Nina’s expertise reached far beyond Speed Reading.
Knowledge of English, Psychology, Education, adult learning, communication, and behavioural science positioned her to teach workplace skills organisations needed most.
With renewed clarity, Nina expanded her programs to include:
- Business Writing and Report Writing
- Customer Service and Selling Skills
- Priority Management
- Leading with Emotional Intelligence and Teamwork
- Presentation Skills … and more.
These offerings were an immediate success, addressing real workplace needs across both corporate and government sectors.
As the suite of programs expanded and the team members grew, Nina renamed her existing business to Brainpower Training Pty Ltd, reflecting a mission focused on lifting workplace capability through practical, engaging, human-centred learning.
Today, Brainpower Training is a nationally trusted provider known for workshops that are:
- practical with lots of takeaways

Most of all, she loves seeing the lights go on inside people’s heads; the light of a good idea, of possibility thinking, of discovering how to do better what they already do well.
